Prohibition ends here! This room is anything but a secret in my house and serves 2 purposes-a speakeasy & a guest bedroom! It’s located under the stairs and intended to be used for storage, however it was so large and awesome in there, there was no way I was letting this space go to waste! I bounced around some ideas of a dog den (but I wasn’t trying to vacuum dog hair everyday), a cool bohemian/Moroccan space, or a speakeasy! And, as if we didn’t have enough bars in this house, I naturally went with the speakeasy.
The guest bedroom idea came about because the office took precedence over my designated extra bedroom. I needed somewhere to put my friends and family when they came to visit, and this is a nice private area where they can comfortably keep their belongings without feeling like they are in the way. Added bonus they get my previous aireloom mattress which is basically a dream bed. I originally put a cheap pre rolled mattress in there because it was the logical choice on how to get a mattress in there, but then I slept in there and immediately apologized to everyone I put through a nights sleep on that mattress! Yikes. So when I upgraded my bed to a king, I was able to use my queen one and maneuvered it through the small entry way. Here you can see the space before it was anything exciting.
You may have seen my wood wall in my home behind the whiskey bar, well it’s actually peel and stick wallpaper from none other than my go-to favorite store ever, Target. Shocker I know. I used leftover scraps from the large wall for this small project and had just the amount I needed.
Here’s where you can find the wallpaper if you are interested! I absolutely love how it looks and put it in 3 rooms of my house. Most people actually walk up and have to touch it when I tell them it’s wallpaper.

Now if you’re wondering where my book wall came from…well a certain doberman, that I love so much, decided to eat some of my vintage books one day when I turned my back for a minute! I wasn’t about to let them go to waste so I nailed those bad boys up on the wall and made a fun entryway into the speakeasy.
During a girls trip to Nashville, my best friend and I visited a speakeasy and had the most amazing drinks created just for us. Hers tasted like Hawaii, where she grew up, and mine tasted like Christmas, my most favorite thing on earth! We asked the bartender if he could write down the recipe and sign it for us so we could frame it for the speakeasy and he obliged! Now we can make these at home and have an awesome keepsake from our trip!
Hope you guys enjoyed the tour of the speakeasy!!
