The Vision
Since the day we walked our home, I’ve envisioned a floor to ceiling fireplace here. However, with a kitchen renovation still going strong, a built in fireplace is just not in the budget right now. However, that’s never stopped me before, it just pushes me to get even more creative & DIY my own faux fireplace. And let me tell you, after finding this gorgeous mantel surround, I am in LOVE with how it all came together!

DIY Details
This project only took me 1 day and is very beginner friendly! The best part is everything is completely removable! This is especially important if you are renting or just don’t have a full fireplace addition in budget like me! If you are renting, don’t have the tools, or just don’t want to remove the baseboard, you can easily skip the baseboard removal step that I’ve included below. There are lots of other options that would look great with the baseboard still intact such as a peel and stick wall paper (this can easily maneuver around tricky areas) or a can of paint always works wonders too! I’ve linked all of the exact products I used at the bottom of this post!
DIY Step by Step
Step 1: Measure
Measure your area, and then measure again. I taped out a rough area to get a full visual to ensure this is exactly where I wanted it.

Step 2: Baseboard removal
Start by removing baseboard. I used a dremel to cut the area I needed. Next score the caulking and tap a putty knife behind there to create a gap, then use your pry bar to gently wiggle your baseboard away from the wall. Lastly, scrape away any excess caulking left on the wall to ensure a smooth surface for the peel & stick tile to adhere to.

Step 3: Peel & Stick Tile
Thoroughly clean everywhere for the tile to be able to adhere properly. Double check the measurements for the area you are laying the tile in & begin peeling & sticking! I started my tiling on the floor and moved up the wall to give the illusion of a tiled floor your would find with a real fireplace install. This gorgeous black marble tile is like it was made for this!

Step 4: Anchor Fireplace
This particular fireplace surround comes equipped with brackets on the back. I used two 75 pound drywall anchors since I was not in a stud.

Step 5: Add your decor
Now the fun part! I chose to add a gilded leaner mirror which I also anchored to the wall, then added in this gorgeous line art, some lighting, and finished with this fun vase filled with faux florals, pampas, and sprays. For the faux fireplace insert area, I chose a candelabra that staggered these remote controlled LED candles that give the prettiest ambient flickering glow.

Ultimately
I couldn’t be happier with how it all came together! I’m looking forward to enjoying the magical evening glow it casts & decorating it for the holidays! Be sure to tag me in your own versions of this, I cannot wait to see what y’all create!!
