How to Style an Enchanting Spring Tablescape

I don’t know about you guys, but I am SO ready for Spring! Since it’s not quite feeling like Spring outside yet, I decided to go ahead and bring Spring indoors! Not only was it so much fun putting together my enchanting Spring tablescape, I wanted to share with all of you just how easy it is to create in your home! The best part? I got it all from my favorite one-stop-shop Bed Bath & Beyond! You’ll never guess what area I found my table runner in, and I’m sharing all of my styling secrets on this one!

It’s no secret that I love entertaining and creating unique tablescapes is my favorite part, however getting ready for a party can already be a lot of work. I want to show you just how easy it is to throw your own tablescape together and make a big impact without an extra headache or breaking the budget! I’m always looking for fun, creative, and stylish ways to entertain, and shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond is always an unexpected place to find unique products, both in-store and online. I mean, they have a whole Beyond section just waiting to be explored with SO many fun products! So let me break it down for you, all the steps I take into consideration when styling my tablescapes!

 

Style/Occasion

I start by deciding my overall theme based on the holiday or occasion I am going to be celebrating. From there I can choose my color palette, centerpiece, and menu based off of the occasion. Bed Bath & Beyond makes refreshing your home for the new season easy and fun. I found my inspiration in a single napkin while out shopping and went from there. These Bardwil Linens Floral Garden Napkins were just calling my name! As you can see I based my entire color palette off of these beauties, and they add the perfect blend of Spring tones to the table.

 

Layering

The key to any great tablescape is layering. Not only does it add depth and dimension to an otherwise flat surface, it is visually appealing while allowing you to add pops of color, textures, and your own signature pieces. When layering think:

1. Table linen and/or runner
2. Placemat
3. Charger
4. Dinner Plate
5. Napkin (skip this step if using a napkin with a napkin ring)
6. Salad Plate
7. Accent Plate (optional)
8. Napkin & napkin ring (if skipping step 5)
9. Group drinking glasses together (I usually offer my guests 2 options)
10. Add silverware

There are no rules to entertaining in your own home, so be sure to have fun with it! These can all be arranged differently as well depending on your menu. If you need to add a bowl, add that bowl! Having dessert? Add that extra dessert plate and spoon. Your guests will appreciate having these items readily available to them instead of hunting around for what they need.

My absolute go-to for ALL of my tablescapes are my Everyday White Square dinner plates. Not only are they simple, elegant, and timeless, they don’t break the bank. I like to save my money for items I can easily swap out without spending a fortune every time I find a new occasion to celebrate. I believe Hester Browne said it best:

Napkins, chargers, and table linens are great examples of affordable and easy to store pieces (I don’t have a hutch or any extra storage so it is a big factor for me) that can have the biggest impact on your tablescape. The best thing about my go-to Everyday White Square dinner plates is that they go with absolutely everything and did not cost me a fortune. Signature Pieces

Now that we’ve layered our Spring tablescape with our basic components, it’s time to add our own signature touch on it. This can be brought in anywhere from a dessert plate to a napkin ring. For my Spring tablescape, I’ve chosen to showcase my Kate Spade “Treat Yourself” tray & Kate Spade Everdone Lane Tidbit Plates, both part of Bed Bath and Beyond’s signature Kate Spade line, which by the way, has THE prettiest items to choose from! Swoon! Since my tablescape is for an afternoon luncheon with friends, I complimented my Kate Spade tray and tidbit plates with light, airy, and of course color complimentary colored treats! Flowers & food are definitely my favorite budget-friendly way to bring color and life into a tablescape.

If you’ve been following along for a while, you know I have a love/obsession with all things copper. It will always make an appearance in some way, shape, or form. My Moscow Mule mugs are perfect for cocktails & mocktails and keep drinks at the perfect temperature.

Continuing with my copper obsession, I surely can’t forget my copper flatware.

Centerpiece

Lastly, I take into consideration the occasion and its needs, then I create my centerpiece based off of that. Is it a brunch? A luncheon? A dinner party? For instance, a brunch might entail a centerpiece made of cake stands filled with donuts & baked goods all at an arm’s length, while a centerpiece for a dinner party or a luncheon can focus on florals & candlelight to create an overall ambiance for conversation. To really get the feel for an enchanting Spring tablescape, I knew I wanted a soft and whimsical runner. After browsing the runner options (and there are SO many cute ones) I knew I would have to get creative if I wanted it to sweep the floor. That’s when I got the idea to use a sheer curtain, and the best part about already being at Bed Bath & Beyond was, I only needed to pop over to the Beyond section to find the perfect one! The Wamsutta Sheer Window Curtain was the perfect touch to add the effect of a soft and enchanting table runner.

 

This centerpiece is not only easy and whimsical but has limitless options with how you style it. The glass hurricanes I used as vases, can be repurposed time and time again for candles, flowers, or vase fillers.
