The Before
Designing my master closet was a dream come true! I’ve always loved IKEA and the organizational masterminds behind it all. So, when it came to designing my closet, using the PAX Wardrobe system was not even a question. When we first toured our home, the master bedroom was extremely overwhelming. It was 2 stories tall with an oddly shaped loft area overlooking the entire room. After playing around with some ideas of a workout area and/or dressing room, I decided to make the 2 work together. Finally, after 6-7 months of living out of boxes, bins, & temporary clothing racks, my dream was finally becoming a reality.

To give you an idea of the before space, here are a couple of images from before we moved in.

As you can see, it is such a big, overwhelming, and awesome space. There are 2 entrances into the master bedroom, 1 on the main level & 1 leading into that upstairs loft space. There is an actual master closet located just through the master bathroom which I gave entirely to my better half. Those of you that know him, know he has more clothes & shoes than me lol!! Eventually, I want to transform his master closet with the Pax Wardrobes as well. But for now, let’s just enjoy MY transformation..

The Building
I can rightfully say that my blood, sweat, & tears went into this closet. I built every single piece by myself before my dad’s “vacation” to see me. When he arrived I sprung this small job on him! He is the most talented guy I know, so if anyone could figure out how to make this look like a fully custom built in, it would be him. Thanks dad.

The corners of this closet were definitely the trickiest part. I

I didn’t use the design program at IKEA because of my odd spacing and custom look I was going for. H
The Budget
After receiving a few gut-wrenching quotes from custom closet companies of over 10k, the blood, sweat, & tears suddenly seemed worth every penny saved. I originally set a budget of 5k but after seeing the Ikea pricing I knew I could do it for even less. I came in at a grand total of $2,000 dollars. The best part about the Pax Wardrobes is that you can add, accessorize, & swap out things as you can afford it. You do not have to buy everything at once which was super helpful. I bought the basics first which were the frames & were all on sale with my Ikea family card. I also bought a few hanging bars to get my clothes up off the floor while I figured out how I wanted to organize everything. Once I had somewhat of a general idea I started buying drawers and shelves. Then continued to add accessories which
The Beauty
After a few shelving switches & drawer swaps to make it more functional she was finished! Almost!

I’ve had so much fun accessorizing and organizing in here! I added my gorgeous gold ornate mirror & a small accessory station. Coming soon will be the chandelier that you guys chose via my Instagram poll!!! I cannot wait to share it with you guys so STAY TUNED!!!
